Celebrate the First Ever International Day of Yoga JUNE 21st!
The #LahariYogaKULACollective: an "Amazing Race" style event with a compassionate yoga twist!
Many Satsangs (teams) of two or more yogis will be journeying around the community of St. Albert to designated city landmarks, local businesses, etc., with a specific YOGA theme.
Each stop will require the team to:
1) take their team picture doing a pose in front of the community landmark
2) post on social media the photo, tagging Lahari Yoga with the hashtags #InternationalDayOfYoga and #yogaalliance
3) post the definition of the YOGA theme
4) post their thoughts on how practicing it would be helpful in solving the issue of global warming
For bonus points, each team can also post a picture of themselves with a new practitioner (local bystander, etc). Clues provided in each leg lead participants to the next destination.
Once the teams have completed the journey through all the stops and documented their photos and ideas, they will return to the grassy field behind the studio where there will be a community yoga festival for all ages awaiting them!
There will be kirtan music, mandala henna painting, mala beading, food, water, and a free giant outdoor class held after the journey.
Contestants will race through the community by foot to reduce our carbon footprint.
Participation fee will be a donation to the local food bank. All donations and prize money will be split between the AfricaYogaProject.org and the United Nations Foundation GirlUp campaign.
